THINK BIG! Getting the most out of your space: Week 1

Welcome to THINK BIG! Thursday's. Each Thursday we will explore how you can make your home appear larger with some simple tips and design tricks.

Kiss the clutter good-bye

The old adage, “less is more” applies when it comes to making the rooms in your home bigger. The biggest space restrictor is the clutter that pulls your attention away from the fabulous square footage you already have. Kissing the clutter good bye is also the least expensive (it could actually make you some dough) way to reclaim your space. This applies to knick-knacks and furniture.

Here is what you do. First, look around the room and determine what furniture you really use. If you haven’t used that recliner you inherited, it is time to remove it (and not just to the basement! – unless, you could really use it there.). Sell it or donate it.

Now that any non-essential furniture is out of the room, would the remaining furniture be better suited re-arranged? Play with it!

Finally, tackle the knick-knacks and paper piles. Remember! Don’t just move it to another room because ideally, you will repeat this process in every room – making your home a place you can stretch your legs out in.

Tune in next Thursday to discover a light and bright side of making your rooms appear larger……
